How to change forum profile settings please?

Title says it all…I can’t seem to work out how to update my profile with local time, location etc. Sorry for being so dumb.

Really? So I have to make up spam posts just to get default time? I didn’t think these types of forums were like that. How ironic. Thanks for letting me know though. I guess I’ll need to work on some comments or new questions! :wink:

LOL! It’s okay; I would never do that. Just a little frustated with the limitation.

The reason the 20 post rule was invoked is because there are quite a lot of spammers on the forum. Spammers generally don’t last 20 posts, so this avoids having members inboxes flooded with spam pm’s.

If you have questions about any aspect of Avast, just ask away. :wink:
All I’d ask is that you don’t repeat the same question in multiple posts.

What do you find frustrating about the limitations you are currently having?

Well, not being able to change my settings is annoying, but in particular, no local time is a real nuisance. It can be very confusing for old farts like me. :wink:

To answer your question:

Please go to PROFILE on the top of the main forum page > Modify Profile > Forum Profile Information > Signature. Enter information about your system like the Operating System (OS), RAM, browser, security software, what version and product of Avast and firewall you use and other items you wish to mention. See my signature or others as an example. You can also enter your country flag and avatar. The purpose of this is so that we can offer pertinent advice. Thank you. :wink:

I am new to AVAST also. Had a problem with another virus program messing with my SpywareBlaster, did some checking and wound up with AVAST (Free). So far so good. I use WindowsXP SP3 32 bit. Glad to see that dumb boom box control gone, that was the main reason I had not used AVAST before now, that and the two spinning icons. Glad to see a very streamline product. If it continues in this manner AVAST will remain an be suggested by me.

I do wish I could set up my profile, but I guess I can wait until I am able to do so, however I do think good moderating of the site would make waiting unnecessary.

I’m glad you like the new Avast 5.0 GUI. We agree that it looks much better as well. The reason for waiting for the 20 posts is because we, just like many other forums, do get our share of spammers trying to post on the forum (they get their posts removed and are banned). As a result, this anti-spam rule went into effect quite a while ago. Your posts will go quickly and before you know it, you will be at 20 posts. Stick around and ask some questions. There is plenty to learn and talk about. :slight_smile:
