How to delete file in virus chest

Hi all, I did a full scan with Avast and it found a file, stuffed it in the chest where it currently is. I want to get that file off my computer, how would I do that? I know the delete button in the virus chest takes the file out of the chest, not deleting it. Thanks for any help

P.S. I’m using avast! 2015 free for Windows 7 if that matters.

Delete means delete, file is removed from system

There is no rush to delete anything from the chest, a protected area where it can do no harm. Anything that you send to the chest you should leave there for a few weeks. If after that time you have suffered no adverse effects from moving these to the chest, scan them again (inside the chest) and if they are still detected as viruses, delete them.

Any file contained in the Virus Chest can be permanently deleted. This action is very simple:

Thanks for the help, the delete “Are You Sure?” message was worded weird. Again, thank you for the help

You’re welcome.

Just for our peace of mind, what was/is the file name, location and malware name given by avast ?

And more - the chest content is scrambled. It cannot do any harm.

if I want to delete a file in chest, it asks ‘do you want to restore’. How come? What does this mean: restore to what?

thanks

Restore means what it says - bring it back to it’s original version.
Only advisable if you are sure that it’s not malware

i think there is a bug in latest version when selecting delete (ask > do you want to restore) others have reported it but as i understand file is deleted

Yeah, there’s a bug in the current version with the message input when deleting from chest. The file is actually deleted but it says “do you want to restore”.
