I’ve passed the information on to the Avast team. I’m not aware of an auto install of the Secure Browser via auto ujpdating of your AV product.
Hopefully, they can give you a better explanation.
I’m not aware of it either and it certainly hasn’t been installed on my system (see my signature below), but I always look out for popups after any program update.
However, I have the avast program updates set to Manual, I prefer to initiate all application/program updates myself. Some time ago after after a program update there was a popup, ‘see what’s new’ and I think there was one that offered (pre-checked option) ASB and I declined that.
I did install it myself some time ago for testing purposes, (it did ask to be the default browser) but I went back to Firefox my default browser. I haven’t liked the Chrome (or chromium based) browsers. Having uninstalled ASB via the control panel, I have never had it return.
Hi,
so to just follow up with you guys about the issue - we went through couple of logs and tried many times to reproduce it but with no success. We also changed our offers to be more visible and clear so there should be less misleading states where our browser could be installed without a sight.
Please let us know if this or similar problem ever happen again, we’ll investigate more.
Many thanks and sorry for any inconvenience caused!
