I need to find out how to completely disable avast. I need to install maya 2015 for college and avast is causing install issues. The error message I get according to the autodesk support site is because avast is on and disabling all shields doesn’t allow the install to work. I need to disable and completely shutdown/exit avast for the installer to work and i’d like to not have to uninstall and reinstall avast.
It seems avast sees bifrost which is part of the install files of maya as a false positive and deletes the files while you are downloading them so the installer downloads corrupted.
Theres 2 things floating around the net one says it sees it as a false positive and the other says avast blocks the dll from unwrapping.
As you can see in the link I gave autodesk points to it being avast’s fault and tells you to disable avast. So given that its labeled by them as avast’s fault they won’t help you other then pointing you to avast for a fix.
In addition to disabling the shields go into go into Settings then Trouble Shooting and uncheck Avast self defense mode. Some software does need Avast fully off to install without problems. Just reenable all of them after the install. If possible disconnect from the internet when you turn off the avast.

Its an installer that downloads the almost 4 gig of files after you run the first 11mb file so I can’t upload it and I can’t disable the net after disabling avast. Thanks for the self protection module info Joe
It’s gotten past the stopping point now and should finish installing in 2 minutes
