just completely uninstalled & re-installed Avast to see if i could get rid of the IMAP problems (will test tomorrow) and i flagged the boot-scan … 
it takes for ages (and i don’t want to press ESC every time i boot) … can not find how to disable it ; any hints ??
Well boot-time scan should be one time only - or it’s starting automatically on each system boot on your systenm
ah, is that how it works ?? you schedule it only for the next time you re-boot, not every time ??
