I had to reinstall avast! after a cleanup, but now I can’t get my customized avast! e-mail signatures back. When I try to copy them to the ENGLISH folder XP tells me they are locked. I have also tried the function to edit them from within avast! (on access mail-scanner) but that just opens then in Notepad, and when I try to save the changes I get the same message about the files beeing locked. So how do I edit these files? Do I have to boot another partition (Win98) to edit then (I can’t get avast! all disabled at startup either)???
Hi
Just go to “Avast Settings/Troubleshooting” and select “Disable avast! selfdefense module”.
Then you can edit your files. Turn on self-defense when you’re finished.
I think this will be changed in the next version…
Or change the avast4.ini file settings to allow the Notepad to do the job.
