The popups to inform me that Avast has been updated and the one that tells me to clean my PC is very annoying. How do I eliminate them? doom and

The only way to eliminate is to turn off update notifications but then your not going to know when you have received updates if that matters.

Assuming the one about cleaning my PC is from GrimeFighter, something avast! is currently promoting, best way to fix that is to either do a change option of avast! or do a clean install of avast! using the “custom install” option.

Either one will allow you to change certain features currently installed and deselect the ones you do not want. To change installed features, you’ll need to enter Add/Remove or Programs and Features and double-click the avast! icon. You will get a new window to Uninstall, Repair, or Change. Select Change. This is your easiest option. A clean install will involve uninstalling avast! running the aswclear.exe tool, rebooting, and then running a new install of avast! from the fresh, new download of avast! you’ve already got. Again, selecting the “custom install” option here will allow you to not install features in avast! you do not want; running the usual normal “recommended” install will put back the same programs you do not want in the first place, so a custom install is always the way to go when doing a clean install.
