How to find file path of detected threats?

Hi all. Whenever Avast detects a threat, I don’t know where on my computer the threat resides. That makes it difficult to ascertain whether it is actually a threat or not. As you can see in these two images (https://imgur.com/a/51JBk), the file path is too long to display, so Avast uses ellipses. Is there anywhere in Avast that can display the full file name, with path?

To be clear, I do not need help identifying the threats in my images. I determined that by carrying out a long Windows search of my hard disk. In the future though, is there any way I can determine the path within Avast?

The full path?

When I open up the Virus Chest and right click on the item and choose Properties I don’t get the full path. You can usually work out where it is but beyond a certain path length it just uses…

As seen in the second screen grab it doesn’t matter whether you expand it full screen or not it just shows this sort of attenuated path.

AVAST isn’t the only security tool that presents the path in this limited and consequently not as helpful as it could be sort of way. My weekly Malwarebytes scan recently found a PUP that had somehow sneaked onto my system. The true full path wasn’t shown because it was too long. I couldn’t find exactly where it was as a result and had to take it on trust that it shouldn’t have been there.

BTW the item used as an example in the attachment is a false positive. It is an part of an open source font creation tool used for skins designed for the original Xbox.

Simply expand the Original Location section to reveal the full path.

Since a virus for me is a very rare breed, I con’t answer that question. It worked for me some years back
on one of those rare instances where Avast actually put something into the virus chest. It was soon deemed as a false positive
and I restored the file from the virus chest.

Not sure what you mean either.
Move your mouse cursor until it is between two column headers, you will see the cursor change shape - to something like this <|> - click (and hold) the left mouse button and drag it to the right to expand the column with.
No it isn’t something new in avast, this expand a column width has been Windows for eons (many, many, years).

I’m going to take a stab at this, in the past whenever I click on the pop-up it would open my browser to the avast page showing more details of the detected threat.

Thanks. Got it and you’re absolutely correct - you can indeed expand the column showing the path details in the Virus Chest simply by dragging the separating line right/left, either between the Last Changed or Name columns.

Never thought of doing that because I didn’t even know it was possible. Useful info.

This handy Windows function works on virtually all layouts that have column headings, widths, etc. that I have ever needed to expand.

Another handy tip using the same tool/function is when you see the cursor change to the double arrow, just double left click and it will expand the column to the width of the largest text string in that column.

The problem is when you’re mostly self taught even if you’ve been using a PC for years there are simple things like this that just pass you by because you don’t know they’re possible.

I’ve honestly never seen that column expansion symbol before even though I’ve been dragging and resizing stuff on screen for as long as I’ve been using a PC.
