How to fix thumb drive?

I reinstalled the operating system on my computer and inadvertently removed the partition on a thumb drive that was in the computer at the time. I tried to format the thumb drive, but I get an error message.

Is there some way that I can fix the thumb drive? Do I need to partition it? If so, what would I use?

Your help will be appreciated.

It simply says it cannot format the thumb drive.

The thumb drive worked fine before I removed the partition from it.

Is the a program that I can use to create a partition on the thumb drive? Then, would I be able to format it?
