Theres a new trojan/keylogger out right now named “SystemHper.dll” usually found in the system32 folder. Mostly it tends to target gamers - such as wow players - and steal their passwords.
Any way to get the registry keys & everything else added to the Avast database so Avast can remove them all? So far the only product that can even pick it up as a trojan (other than wow’s warden itself) is SuperAntiSpyware.
avast needs samples to analyse to be able to add them to its virus signature database.
avast doesn’t scan the registry by default, if a spyware file is detected on your system then avast looks in the registry for associated entries. So that is one reason to have a specialist anti-spyware/malware scanner as a back-up to avast.
If you have a sample, Send the sample to virus@avast.com zipped and password protected with the password in email body, a link to this topic might help and undetected malware in the subject.
Or you can also add the file to the User Files (File, Add) section of the avast chest (if it isn’t already there) where it can do no harm and send it from there (select the file, right click, email to Alwil Software). No need to zip and PW protect when the sample is sent from chest. A copy of the file/s will remain in the original location, so any further action you take can remove that. Send it from the User Files section of the chest (select the file, right click, email to Alwil Software). This process has been modified in the latest version to make it easier, it doesn’t actually get emailed, but transferred when the next avast auto (or manual) update is done.
We were merely pointing out that avast requires samples to add to a database and if you had a sample where to send it, not that you would be stupid enough to get hit by it.
So if you know the link, send that to virus (At) avast as above with any relevant information.
