Hello,
Since the latest upgrade to Avast Free 17.9.2322, every time I start up my computer I’m getting popup messages offering me to upgrade to the Pro version.
I can understand that Avast is trying to make money, but I never had this happened before at every startup and it’s annoying!
How can I get rid of these ‘pester screens’?
Thanks,
Having the same issue here… there is no way to opt out of the offers, so I am guessing the flag for the prompt is never getting set? I even went so far as to go forward with the free trial option for the security add-on, and even on the pages where it is telling you about furture billing and cancellation, there is STILL no option to opt out. It is like they are leaving us no choice but to put our CC info on file with Digital River to stop the d@mn things.
Very annoying… if it does’t get addressed soon, I may have to finally give something else a try.
Same thing happening to me. Ever since the update, anytime I reboot my machine, it’s giving me the offer to go free or premium. I hit Free each time, then it offers me two extra things, finally done. This happens on EVERY Reboot. Avast, please fix this.
Reported to Avast. Probably need to wait till after Christmas for a reply.
May have finally gotten it to clear on my laptop.
I selected the free version on the prompt to upgrade screen, and then accepted the free trial of the security add on, which eventually led to asking me for my CC info to register with Digital River. Backed out of that and then just closed the window. Shut down and went downstairs to do some of the Christmas Eve stuff, came back a few hours later and that cold boot didn’t prompt me to buy stuff.
I eventually did get an Avast popup about things left in my cart though. Clicked the link in the pop-up to go to my cart, and was able to delete the free trial with the (X) on the right, emptying my cart. Just to test it out, I did a full shutdown and another cold boot cycle… and so far there hasn’t been another pop-up.
So perhaps it is just an issue with them changing how the particular flag for the prompt is being managed now?
