how to go from paid back to free Avast

I have had Avast Internet Security for a year, but looks like I will have to drop the paid version this year, especially since the cost went up. It’s about to run out in a few days.

Will the paid version automatically convert back to the free Avast, or is there something I have to do to make the conversion?

Hi Liz,

It was very pity that your are not continue to using AIS,

But don’t worry, you only required to remove your existing AIS and then re-install avast Free on your workstation.

After you remove your AIS, please beware to remove some avast service or file on registry or windows explorer such as : HKLM - Software - AVAST Software Folder; HKCU - Software - AVAST Software Folder; and then on windows document and settings.

After you make sure that your system has clean, then you can instal with avast Free.

Download avast free and the uninstall tool here and save http://files.avast.com/iavs5x/setup_av_free.exe http://files.avast.com/files/eng/aswclear.exe
Reboot you system into safe mode ( tap f8 while booting ) and run the uninstall tool for your eg 4 ,5 , 6 version then reboot back to normal mode and install avast free - register and reboot :slight_smile:

When you have avast free installed you may find that in the Summary screen of the avastUI there is an offer on upgrades ;D
