how to have google as the default search engine with Avast secure browser?
These instructions don’t work. No matter what default search engine you set, in private mode it still searches with startpage!

same here. I followed these instructions, but default search engine setting still does not work. What a shitty browser! I’m considering cancelling my subscription.
Found the way to do that
You need to go to the search engine tab
Add new search site
Put at the link a link which contains a parameter for search
”``https://www.google.com/search?q=%s”
then save and make it your default
