How to increase CPU priority for avast?

Hello,

I have avast 4.8 professional running on Vista. There is a scheduled job that runs nightly starting at 1AM. Typically, I would expect the scan to be done in 2 hours. These days it is taking much longer. It is now 6 AM and avast is still scanning the hard disks.

How can I speed up the scanning process?
How do I increase the CPU priority for avast for the scans?
Is there an automated way to disable the screen saver before the scan and enable after the scan is complete?

Thank you in advance for any help.

I would have though that at 1am priority isn’t the issue unless you are running other applications at that time in the morning ?

What has changed, between when it would complete in 2 hours to it not having completed after 5 hours ?

What other security software do you have installed as this could possibly be causing duplicate scanning ?

Defragment the disk, close other programs running in background, reduce the archive scanning.

I don’t think this is possible, even disabling avast self defense module.

No.

I don’t know what machine you have, but usually it’s not the CPU that limits the scan speed - but rather the hard drive, which isn’t able to fetch the data fast enough.
