How to log an official complaint?

So, today I turned on my PC and what do I see?! I have Avast Free Antivirus!!! HOW?? I NEVER installed it! It was not there yesterday when I turned my PC off! I never asked for it and don’t need it!

So, my question is- how do I log a complain to Avast? I want them to explain how their software made it to my PC?! I know for a fact I did not install it! And I did not install any other software yesterday that could have Avast hidden in the installation file!

To say that I am pissed off does not even start to describe how I feel! Now I have to format my hard drives and reinstall my Windows 10 + all the softs I need!

Thanks!

Just realised quite a funny thing!
By definition a computer virus is a malicious software program loaded onto a user’s computer without the user’s knowledge and performs malicious actions.
So Avast Antivirus is actually a virus!

But on a serious note, I still going to log a complaint with them…

Do you have CCleaner? have you updated it?

Only if it is malicious .... is it ?

No, don’t have a CC cleaner… I used to have it, but did not install it back after last wipe… And normally I complete full format of all hard drives and a clean install of windows every 3 to 4 month! I am very careful with what I do, how I do, I use VPN, have antivirus, when I install something, I double check all the tick boxes and so on! This Avast is the first virus that I know that made it to my PC! Sorry, Avast brought a friend- google chrome! So google will have some explanation to do as well!

And as I said, haven’t installed anything on my PC for several weeks, so Avast and Google Chrome were set to install on next startup- they were not there yesterday when I turned my PC off…

And yes- it is malicious! As a minimum because having 2 full antivirus on one PC is not a good idea!

I double check all the tick boxes and so on!
Maybe you missed one ?

Can recomend this: Unchecky https://unchecky.com/
Free, install and forget

Maybe you missed one ?

This possibility would exist if I installed anything, but nothing has been installed on my PC for weeks…

Then i have no idea how it happend but i understand the frustration

You may run this to make sure evrything is gone >> https://www.avast.com/uninstall-utility
Should be run in safe mode as instruction say

Normal uninstall does not work- sais that system has no access to path…

I tried this- Even when PC was in safe mode and I run it as an admin, it said something along the lines of not having permission to access or modify the folder...

Will format all drives, do clean reinstall of windows and that will sort it.
I have calmed down a bit now, but still would like to know how to get a response from software developers or anyone connected to it…

On a side note…

This looks quite interesting! Will install this on my girlfriend’s laptop! hahaha

One more concerning thing- is it normal for this antivirus to change the programmes that are launched on start-up? 6 extra programmes that I never set to launch on start-up now do- HandyAndy, Discord, Web Companion (never had this before so probably another one of Avast’s friends), TomTom Home, YouTube Downloader, Perdition Gaming Mouse Drivers and PyCharm.

I am telling you- if I ever payed even $1 for this so called anti virus, I would be asking for my money back within an hour! Now I am at the point to see what other changes it did to my rig! (for educational purposes hahaha)

So my guess is no one knows who should I write to get an explanation about all of this?

Maybe a clue?: https://duckduckgo.com/?q=HandyAndy%2C+Discord%2C+Web+Companion+TomTom+Home%2C+YouTube+Downloader%2C+Perdition+Gaming+Mouse+Drivers+and+PyCharm.&t=ffab&ia=web
WAG says they (some) are all browser extensions?

Don’t know how Avast got onto your computer but, all those other items have nothing to do with Avast so I suspect there’s something else going on that’s
causing all of this. You may want to pursue the following for help in getting rid of all this: https://forum.avast.com/index.php?topic=194892.0
