I am about to try upgrading from V4.8 to V5 on several PC’s. I’ve downloaded the install exe and the 5.0 Quickstart guide.
I’m old school and like printing out guides in advance and make notes for myself for things I want to be sure to do/check and have noticed something very strange with this PDF file.
Although I can SEE the text in the file (using Foxit Reader) if I try to print it out the ONLY things that print out are diagrams - with zero text. All the pages print out, but nothing other than figures show up, not even page numbers.
I have never experienced anything like this and have printed out hundreds/thousands of PDF files before with mixture of illustrations/figures/text.
Can anyone shed light on this?? I can find no settings in Foxit reader to explain this bizarre problem.
Very strange. Must be something implemented in the PDF that my version of Foxit does not like when printing? Sigh. I can’t remember the details but there was something about the new version of Foxit that I didn’t like so I had downgraded it to an older version (which may or may not have to do with anything). Guess it could even be something to do with my printer/driver (a Brother HL-2140). I’ve never encountered a PDF behaving like this ever though. Gotta love crazy PC problems (not)!
As far as I know the only down side to the newer versions is the harder push to install toolbars and other crap. If you pay very close attention you can get around installing all the crapware. The tool bar is not a box to uncheck it requires a cancel on one of the early screens. As in older versions you need to uncheck several boxes to stop other crap also.
Thanks. I vaguely recall the Foxit issue was either extra crapware or functions I didn’t want/need but don’t remember the details. There is just never enough time in the day to deal with everything, fully research all the gotchas etc so I stayed with an older (working version).
