I would like to restart Avast without restarting my computer. The reason is that I set it to only run with a password and now it claims my password is wrong (it isn’t). I don’t want to uninstall it, I just want to restart it, see if that fixes my problem. I can’t force it to close through the task manager, which is frustrating. Is there a way to quit so I can restart and potentially fix its password problem?
Don’t worry, this won’t leave me exposed to the scarrrry viruses out there. No arguments about why would I want to do this please. I just want to restart this without restarting my computer.
don`t know if this have any effect but have you tried avast! repair ???
For a repair of avast. Windows, Add Remove programs, select ‘avast! Anti-Virus,’ click the Change/Remove button from the pop-up window, scroll down to Repair, click next and follow.
You don’t want to restart the computer, that’s your problem, probably means that the computer is not yours, and you don’t have the login password, which in turn would explain why your Avast password doesn’t work, because you don’t have it.The reason why you registered was to ask that, ask us to help you de-activate or manipulate the Avast install on someone else’s system.
ps: and FYI, Avast doesn’t require anyone to enter a password when restarting a system
