Hi Sarethor,
I noticed a few things in your log:
O8 - Extra context menu item: &Search - http://kc.bar.need2find.com/KC/menusearch.html?p=KC
Research conducted 02/06/2006: Based on eTrust™ PestPatrol® Spyware Scorecard v2.05.09, 'MySearch Toolbar' violates the following criteria: 'installs without providing explicit opt-out option from vendor's site or associated application.' MySearch was installed with insufficient user awareness and consent from FasterXP.com. As a side note, it came bundled with a known adware application and a homepage hijacker.

Removal recommended
O9 - Extra button: (no name) - {CD67F990-D8E9-11d2-98FE-00C0F0318AFE} - (no file)
You can remove this
O16 - DPF: {288C5F13-7E52-4ADA-A32E-F5BF9D125F99} (CR64Loader Object) - http://www.miniclip.com/platypus/miniclipGameLoader.dll
This is a Trojan downloader.

You must have HijackThis! fix this entry.
F1 - win.ini: run=C:\WINDOWS\hpfsched.bat;C:\WINDOWS\hpfsched.exe;C:\WINDOWS\hpfsched.com;C:\W INDOWS\hpfsched.scr;C:\WINDOWS\hpfsched.vbs;C:\WINDOWS\COMMAND\hpfsched.bat;C:\W INDOWS\COMMAND\hpfsched.exe;C:\WINDOWS\COMMAND\hpfsched.com;C:\WINDOWS\COMMAND\h pfsched.scr;C:\WINDOWS\COMMAND\hpfsched.vbs;C:\WINDOWS\SYSTEM\hpfsched.bat;C:\WI NDOWS\SYSTEM\hpfsched.exe;C:\WINDOWS\SYSTEM\hpfsched.com;C:\WINDOWS\SYSTEM\hpfsc hed.scr;C:\WINDOWS\SYSTEM\hpfsched.vbs
This entry looks suspicious, but hpfsched.exe seems to be a printer program to remind you to clean the printer heads. A number of forums have recommended fixing this entry. Certainly removal won’t cause any problems, but you may want to wait for further advice: I’m sure essexboy can give us some more information.
You also have WildTangent, which may be a concern:
Ok thx for replying
Here is the new HJT log
You can fix this redundant entry:
O2 - BHO: (no name) - {A53A2840-6291-C1EA-440B-B5FB2119460B} - C:\WINDOWS\APPLICATION DATA\FORSOAP\TRAYISO.EXE (file missing)
Otherwise, the log looks good. But you do need to install the latest version of Sun Java:
http://www.java.com/en/download/index.jsp
After installing, please uninstall any older versions of Java on your computer as they are a security risk.
I don’t know if you use an alternative browser, but doing so would be a lot safer- and they are also a lot more feature-rich than IE6.
ok thx, i will reply when some problems come back.
Ok , im gonna dl avast or another antivirus bcuz trend-micro is outdated.
Does anybody know a better (free) antivirus than avast?
As this is the avast! forum, you’re probably going to be recommended avast! here. :
You can check out detection rates here:
http://www.av-comparatives.org/
Avira has better detection rates, but has a few drawbacks, viz: updates can take 15 minutes, if they ever happen at all, the program is nagware, and there’s a bug in the update procedure that leaves a process running at 100% CPU usage.
According to av-comparatives, avast! is ‘advanced’ and AVG standard in terms of detection.
avast! has more features than AVG (Webshield, P2P scanning etc.)
The choice is yours!
do you expect someone here to answer that ??
seriously if you feel you need two then combine avast! with bit defender free as a backup, it has good detection rates and no resident to clash with avast!
good luck
NO 8)
OK peeps, im gonna dl avast, happy
You have made a good choice, one of the things often not considered is SUPPORT and that is something you can/have get/got here quickly and in abundance.
Hi peeps,
OK, so i downloaded Avast and i wanted to register myself but again the same prob with firefox (stuck, black) ??? but Avast is now scanning, so im gonna wait till the scan is over and then im gonna post the HJT log again.
I really hope one day it will be fixed. :-\
Yay no infection found ;D
ok here is the HJT log,
ok… i guess there is no prob anymore
Thx all , i thought it would never be fixed, i was wrong afterall ;D
;Dthx ;D
I wish you would just paste the contents of log files into the topic, that way people don’t have to download them and the contents are available for all to see without downloading an unknown file, after all this is a security forum.
On-line analysis is still reporting no firewall, do you have a firewall. If not you will be fighting an uphill battle to get completely clean.
There are a number of possibly nasty entries that need investigation, google search on the file name, upload to analysis site for a scan, etc. see http://hijackthis.de/logfiles/d819615b4b93608cd74f6967a2ba284e.html for the on-line analysis.
Sarethor’s log has already been checked out:
http://forum.avast.com/index.php?topic=23667.msg202295#msg202295
He has posted another log since the 5th November, like the one at reply #32 8th November.
Not really needed, since the last one was fine apart from the Java update.
The latest log shows Sarethor has updated Java. All the ‘possible nasty’ entries I checked out before.
um…ok i am not a ‘he’ but im a girl, my name is Sara
ok im really angry now >:( cuz my pc went Black and stuck right now !!! and then i rebooted and it got stuck again ???
sheesh i was wrong , nobody on the net can help me even the experts cant…
so plzzz try more help
remember , i posted this topic in Semptember…
Hi Sara,
All we can say from your HijackThis! log is that you don’t seem to have any malware running on your computer. That doesn’t mean there won’t be any problem- you still might have hardware or software problems- hard disk problems, corrupted files or registry entries etc.
If you can tell us some more about the problem, we might be able to help. Did you get an error message?
If you have removed malware, you may have some registry problems left over: try running TuneUp Utilities registry scanner- it has a free trial- and see how many problems in the registry that finds and fixes.
Also try checking the hard disk:
http://pcdon.com/page82.html
http://www.microsoft.com/resources/documentation/windows/xp/all/proddocs/en-us/chkdsk.mspx?mfr=true
If you can boot into safe mode with command prompt, I think you can run a disk check from there by typing:
Chkdsk /f EDIT: Sorry, ScanDisk in ME.
