How to replace Trend Micro Internet Security with Avast! free (what order)

Hi,
I have Trend Micro Internet Security (Version 16.60.302 completely up-to-date); it came with a computer I have. I want to remove it and install Avast! (free version) instead …
Is there anything wrong with the following order?

Downloading Avast! (Inactivate Trend totally)
and after downloading, UNinstalling Trend (I don’t know best way - I’ll figure it out)
and after several reboots then installing Avast!?
Thanks!

  1. Download avast! Free Antivirus: http://files.avast.com/iavs5x/avast_free_antivirus_setup.exe
  2. Follow instructions: http://esupport.trendmicro.com.au/Pages/How-do-I-remove-old-or-new-versions-of-Trend-Micro-products-in-my-comp.aspx
  3. Install avast! with the downloaded installer from point 1.
  4. Reboot.

Thank you very much for the instructions!

I have not completed them but have downloaded the Avast! file.

I’ll post the results when I’m done

You’re welcome.

Hi,
“Progress Report”
I downloaded this: “Trend Micro Diagnostic Toolkit”
But could not run it because:
“Cannot start Application” error
"Cannot download the application. The application is missing required files. Contact application vendor for assistance”.

I disconnected TREND from the internet but could not access any Web site (Including this)
“Server down” (I accessed them from other systems…)”

I am going to try”Control Panel”
TREND expires tomorrow…

Completed!
Via Control Panel
Thanks again for the help

  1. Good.
  2. You’re welcome.
