We received an Avast warning stating that a virus was found. It claimed the Malware name was :Win32:Trojan-gen {Other}; Malware type:Virus/Worm; VPS version: 080728-0, 07/28/2008; File Name: C:\Program Files\muvee Technologies\muvee autoProducer 5.0-HPD\muveeapp.exe
We are fairly certain this is not a virus and need to know how to report it to Avast.
Some of the other posts say move it to chest and then send the file to Avast, but file cannot be moved to the chest.
Why couldn’t it be sent to the chest, e.g. file in use, etc. ?
You can also manually add a file to the Chest, Open the chest, User Files section, File, Add and from the pop-up navigate to the location.
You could also check the offending/suspect file at: VirusTotal - Multi engine on-line virus scanner and report the findings here. You can’t do this with the file securely in the chest, you need to extract it to a temporary (not original) location first, see below.
Create a folder called Suspect in the C:\ drive, e.g. C:\Suspect. Now exclude that folder in the Standard Shield, Customize, Advanced, Add, type (or copy and paste) C:\Suspect* That will stop the standard shield scanning any file you put in that folder. You should now be able to export any file in the chest (or copy and paste from original location) to this folder and upload it to VirusTotal without avast alerting.
