Tried to send an email directly from Open Office text, the program hung
…After rebooting the Open Office text could be restored. But now with Outlook (run it with Mailwasher) I can receive email through my pop3 account fine, but trying to send an email, it cannot contact the smpt server, and it says “socketerror 11001"error number 0x800CCCoD”.
What has happened here. It is not my ISP, because in webmail everything works fine, tested the mail with my two accounts and a test mail. What has been gone in my OS, and how to get this right again?
Bob, your reply started the right workings of the few grey cells left with the ol Pol, and eventually he was succesful in solving his outgoing mail-problem. This is the second time you saved my day, Bob!
Solved the problem, as in the one occasion, I did not have the LAN connections in Outlook, in that case the simple mail protocol is not that simple anymore, and you have to restore these, or give in the actual URL of the smpt server. Anyway in the one case I had them after deleting the previous mail account, re-install the account settings and everything works smoothly, had two test mails in the webmail box as a result. That’s all, and it is also an answer for anyone on DSL experiencing these time out related socket-error. OK, all’s well, that ends well. Glad I am a member of this grand forum. Thanks to avast I can help myself with these hick-ups.
