How to scan all files when they are opened?

Hi,
sorry if this question was answered before.
is it possible to set the resident scanner to scan all files (not only exe, OLE objects etc, as in basic scanner options, but even txt, jpeg files) when they are opened?
i tried to use the wildcard “?” in the advanced scanner option (i put it in the box under ‘scan files with these extensions’, hoping that this way all files with all extensions will be scanned, but i dont think it works (i checked the option ‘show detailed info on perfomed action’ but still, for example, txt files dont appear to be scanned)
Thanks in advance for any answer!

Move the Standard Shield sensitivity to Normal and click Customize…
Now just check “Scan all files” in the second tab.

That would turn on the scanning for all created/modified files, not opened.

artamangr, you should put * into the box of extensions, not ?.
However, I don’t recommend to combine scanning all the files (*) with the option “Show detailed info on performed action” - it may be sort of dangerous.

Sure, you can just use the wildcard * on the Advanced tab of settings (Standard Shield).

Well, if you add the * on open files you will see a lot of information on the pop-up window. You can configure avast more and more… See ‘Settings’ on my signature

Ups my bad…

Hi!
Thanks for your answers. By putting * in the relevant box, all extensions are now scanned. I will try to see now if this has a negative effect on the speed of the notebook.
Another related question with the scanning of files. Regarding the P2P and IM shield, are all the downloaded/received files using the supported P2P and IM programs scanned automatically once they are downloaded/received?
Or should i use the option that these programs provide, to scan for viruses by manually giving the path of ashQuick.exe as the virus scanner to be used?
Thanks again,
i must admit that i didnt expect that i would get an answer so quickly

If you add an *, all files will be scanned by Standard Shield regardless the P2P and IM providers
