well i dont understand it sorry all

Do you use a download manager?

What browser do you use?

What do you want? Exactly.

when i down load any thing with ff3 it dosnt scan it. it used to scan

when i down load any thing it used to run a scan on it now it just down loads.
last friday my computer fried had to re do all so fresh install of avast and just wondered where that option is located:)

im not trying to be a PIA

Right click the file and choose the avast option there to scan.
If you use a donwload manager (for instance, www.freedownloadmanager.org) you can use ashquick.exe (that I’ve posted before) to automatically scan every downloaded file.

i dont know where to put this or what to do after?

Look mark, if you want to scan a downloaded file, right click it and choose avast option to scan it. Is this what you want to do?

There is no option in the firefox download function to have it scan your downloads, if this worked before then you had an add-on that you were able to enter the location that Tech gave so files would be scanned after they were downloaded.

Firefox 3.0 introduced a new function that it was meant to have your installed AV scan downloads by default, but it still didn’t give the user the option to enter the path for the file to scan the download. Unfortunately this simply doesn’t work with many AVs and avast is one that it doesn’t work with.

thank you all

You’re welcome.
More importantly have you figured out how/why your previous downloads were scanned by avast ?

no but its ok

Mark,

By any chance were you referring to the “a” ball spinning when ever you “downloaded” anything in your browser, and if so perhaps what you are referring to is the Avast Web shield scanning. It should work with Firefox3.

If you left click on the “a” ball in the task bar, click on the detail button (if shown) on the screen that comes up and then scroll through the Shield icons until you find the Web Shield one. Is it running? If it is, but the count of files scanned is zero after you have browsed through a few web sites, click on the Customise button and check that the three tick boxes on the Basic Tab are all ticked, and that the redirected HTTP port is set to 80. If you make any changes, click on OK.

Perhaps you can post back and let us know whether this was any help.
