Why do you want to set it to manual…??

1)I often use my computer offline for gaming. which means no new files, no virus from internet when offline.
2)My computer is connected to a potentialy infected usb device every 6 years.
3)Why startup avast with the system and slow down my boot if there is no possibility of infection for the current session ?
Asuming you have a (x)dsl/cable connection or simulair, you are only offline if you physically disconnect the system from the net. Taking out the network cable that is. As long if you don’t do that you are connected and should have protection.
thank you for the precision. I use a laptop with wifi. So believe me I am pretty sure I am offline If the wifi is disabled. now answer my question ! ;D
Only ways to prevent avast from loadig at boot time is to change the registry or remove avast as far as I know. Keep in mind that avast is build to protect and it doesn’t make any sense to prevent it from loading. If you want to speed-up boot time, please attach a HijackThis log to your next post and let us see if we can speed up things a bit.
Just a suggestion: Create an account just for gaming on your machine.

editing registry returned access denied. I will try installing avast in a virtual machine and try editing the registry in safe mode ( I saw a post that said it can be done in safe mode ) I will report in a few minutes.
Creating a new account is a possibility but its less good, I feel like I kill a rat with a nuclear bomb.
editing registry returned access deniedLog in as true admin and you will be able to change things. Create a backup before making them so you can undo changes easily.
true admin ? how you do that ? anyway, changing startup type to manual in safemode using services.msc was successful. i don’t even know why it worked. Does safemode give you superadmin rights ?
Well, something similar, as the avast self defence isn’t working in safe mode.

Well problem is solved.
I will make a diagnostic with soluto and see if avast is really removed from startup.
EDIT: soluto diagnostic showed avast was removed from startup => success 8)
disable self defense to alter registry and services.msc. simple, no need to go safe mode
