How to skip scanning traffic for certain apps/port?

Hi!

I just noticed using current version (Avast Free v18.7.2354) that Avast scans the incoming traffic of uTorrent via OpenVPN, hence consuming huge CPU time with high speed. I don’t remember Avast behaiving this way before (before upgrading to current version).

So, how can I remove this functionality?

What I tried so far (after going through all the settings):

  • add utorrent.exe into the exclusions on Process tab of SmartScan (?)
  • adding the whole directory tree to the exclusions

But nothing worked so far.

Thanks!

Thanks, but which one are we talking about exactly?
“Web Shield?”

Avast is scanning the traffic coming from peers.
I also switched off scanning “writing to files” but it didn’t do much either.

Yep.

Cheers, I’ll try it out this evening and report back.

OK, you’re welcome.

It doesn’t work, unfortunately, “Avast Service (32 bit)” consumes lot of CPU percentage.

I have set under “Web Shield”:

  • Main settings: x Scan traffic from well-known browser processes only
  • Exclusions - Processes to exclude:
    – utorrent.exe, openvpn.exe, openssl.exe, openvpn-gui.exe, openvpnserv.exe, openvpnserv2.exe

But it’s definitely the Web Shield component: if I disable the whole Web Shield component then all is good again.
Now the only question is how can I “filter” what I want

Can you replicate the issue?
Thanks for helping!

If Repair doesn’t fix the problem, try the following:
Clean Install of Avast:
