However - There is another option in the latest avast 2016 11.1.2245 version, released a couple of days ago - AvastUI > Settings (the cog wheel icon) > General - uncheck the 'Enable Avast email signatures.

Good one David, I missed that probably due to my not using the xp station very often these day.
Well it has only been out a few days, and was in the later beta builds. Makes it easier if the user hasn’t got the Mail Shield installed.
