How to stop Gmail from trimming signature?

Hi, how do I stop Gmail from trimming my signature every time I send a email?
It’s really very frustrating to see my signature hidden every time I send an email, even and espcialy in the first post.
It kind of defeats the whole purpose of having a Gmail signature in the first place.
I enabled the option to place the signature on top of quoted text and all that does is take away the “–” but the signature is still cropped.

If anyone can help me out with this I’d really appreciate it.
Thank you very much in advance!

Google support is unfortunately of no help. :frowning:

I suggest you review your personal settings. I just sent myself a test email to check your claim
because the email signature is also important to me. Here is the result:

As you can see, no clipping of the signature at all.

bob3160, did you sign up for Google Plus? If you did, that explains it. I didn’t sign up for Google Plus, and don’t want to be forced to by Google in order for them to show my signature.

Attached is what happens to my signature when I send an email.

I use all of Google’s tools that includes Google+ . Can’t tell you if I’ve ever not seen my signature which has changed many times over the years.

That explains it.
By the way, do you see your signature every post of a thread, or only in the original post?
Also, what other tools are you referring to in addition to Google Plus?

Original only not when there a several replies.
Google Drive and all the other tools that get you:

Like I thought.
I’d wager to say that if you’d remove Google Plus (not that I’m telling you to) your signature would be cropped even in your original post.
Which brings us back to square one, Gmail trims signatures thus defeating the purpose for one in the first place.

Why would I do something like that? I’m very happy with the tools Google supplies.

I wasn’t suggesting that, I was just pointing out that the only reason your signatures aren’t being trimmed is because you have Google Plus. Sans that, it’s trim time boys. :frowning:

Do you have any proof of that or is that simply your assumption ???

You ask a good question, maybe if the signature has your name in it, they will trim it, whereas if it has something else, they’ll deem it “important enough” to keep.

Let me ask you, is the name in your signature the name you used as your official email account username (in the “First name” and “last name”)?

I have a GMail account, but I normally use Pegasus Mail email client to send and receive messages. I don’t have Google Plus at all, and my signatures aren’t cropped at all.

When I do go to GMail site with my browser, I see my signature in my first post in any thread. On subsequent posts to the same thread, I see the three dots which when clicked then shows my signature.

As far as I can tell, GMail is hiding showing the signatures all the time on each post as it’s redundant.

Do you have your name in your signature Gopher John?

Yes, I do, but it is my real name. I don’t think which name would matter, but perhaps the format might.

Is the name in your signature the same as your official username, is what I’m asking.

I think you’re fishing at straws. Since you no longer need an invitation to start a gmail account,
why don’t you test your suspicions. I highly doubt that using your actual name makes a difference.

It doesn’t matter what name is in my signature. I have changed my signature a few times, and it doesn’t affect GMail’s handling at all. With Pegasus Mail, I have 10 different signatures I’ve entered and can select via pulldown. One is set at default in the Pegasus Mail Identity for Gmail so one doesn’t have to always select the signature.
