How to Stop Renewal Notices AFTER License Renewed (avast! free v4.8)?

I keep getting “License About to Expire” pop-up notices (stacked one on top of another), even though I’ve already renewed the license, which now expires on December 1, 2012, according to the info on the “About avast!” screen. How can I stop these annoying pop-ups from appearing every hour or so? Thanks for any help on this.

Exact OS (including edition, SP, 32/64)?

Have you rebooted after renewing the license?

They are pushing more users tot he latest versions. avast! 4.8 is heavily outdated and as such not recommended to use. If you use Windows 2000 or later, there is really no point in sticking with avast! 4.8. Move on, avast! 7.0 is almost around the corner…

That’s why I asked about the OS. The only reason to stay with Avast 4.8 is if you are still using Win9x/ME.

BTW, if you start using Avast 6.x (under at least Windows 2000 + SP4 + RU1), your license can be converted and will still be valid up to the same date your current license is.

In my opinion, avast 6 free is much much better than avast 4.8 Professional.
Unless you’re on the outdated Windows 9x or Me (yet).

But why to use the Free edition if the user has a valid license of Pro? Just convert the license from 4.8 to 5.x/6.x (except, again, if using Win 9x/ME).

ady4um-Tech, The OP is using 4.8 free not Pro hence the title.

Sure.

@craigb, you are correct. For some reason I thought he was using Pro (or maybe I confused this topic with some other).

The main issue: Win 2K or newer? Update your program.
