How to tackle this?

Hello forum folks,

Somebody knows why I cannot install a usb flah driver on Win98 SE. The Installer Shield runs and halts with an error message:
incompatible version of the RPC-stub-program.
Is there anotner means to install the flash disk PD2. Other driver program for a 2.0 USB is accepted. The machine is USB prepaired
but does not support the device. Who helps me?

Hi polonus,
Hopefully this will help:

I have a PC that runs Windows 98, can I still use Hi-Speed USB 2.0 products? Yes, assuming first that you install a Hi-Speed USB 2.0 add-in card and you install a Hi-Speed USB 2.0 driver. Since Microsoft is only developing drivers for Windows XP and 2000, you will have to use a 3rd party vendor's drivers. In most cases, if you upgrade your PC with an add-in card, it will come with a Hi-Speed USB 2.0 driver install CD, that covers 98, 98SE, and ME.
For further info on drivers and copatability issued, take a look HERE Hope that helps... :)

Howdy Bob3160,

This was the best St.Nicolaas present you gave me, Bob. Splendid, went to the site, got the information about the Unofficial Service Pack for Windows 98 SE, looked for the Dutch version (15 MB), and now hug and snug, everything installed: USB Mass Storage Disk, right oleaut32.dll, compatibleversion, and humming. No-incompatible-RPC-stub-program.

Bob, you are a giant of a man. And also a little bit because Plonus is a Capricorn, and they keep trying, and trying,
Well again thanx,

polonus
