How To Tell If I Have Latest Virus Definition Version

I just installed Avast 5 and noticed that there is no date as to when the virus definition has been updated, just a version number.

Is there a way to tell if I have the latest virus definition? Like put the latest virus def. version number on the front page of the website (just like the old site).

Thanks.

Ok just found it under the Maintenance/Update menu under Release Date.

Virus update history http://www.avast.com/virus-update-history-2010

You can sign up for email notification of updates at http://www2.avast.com/eng/avast-subscription-service.html.

Gopher John: I’m getting this message from the link you provided: Object not found!

The requested URL was not found on this server. The link on the referring page seems to be wrong or outdated. Please inform the author of that page about the error.

If you think this is a server error, please contact the webmaster. Error 404

Pondus: seems the link isn’t updated much about the updates  it shows the latest definition to be 30.3.2010 - 100330-1.
On my avast maintenance/update is shows 100402-0 updated 4/2 to be the latest…

@quakeworld

The link became unavailable shortly after I posted it. I haven’t been able to find another. Also, even though I haven’t unsubscribed from the email list, I am no longer receiving email notifications.

Avast is updating fine in my install, and my definitions match what you posted.

Is anyone still getting email notifications from Avast??

Does anyone have a valid active link to subscribe with, and willing to post it here?

No, last one was from 29/03/2010

I think the whole www2 domain is gone now… http://www2.avast.com simply redirects to the normal site…

Shame, I liked that service…

So did I. And with http://www.avast.com/virus-update-history-2010 not being kept current, if one has had trouble with updates, it leaves much doubt in their minds. OTOH, not knowing may cause less postings about being out of date. ::slight_smile:

Yes the www2 was very handy and IMHO should never been removed without the corresponding link being active and before any removal a period of time redirecting to the current active page.
