how to temporarily Disable 2015 Free antivirus

I just installed Windows 8.1 Pro. I installed Avast Free Antivirus 2015. I tried to install my hp2600n Printer and Avast deleted a file the printer installation software created without allowing me to make the decision. I tried to find out how to temporarily disable Avast but there was not any. I opened and unchecked everything possible and tried the installation but Avast still deleted the file. I finally had to uninstall Avast to be able to install the printer. I did not find Avast user-friendly or or intuitive. There was no help/about button to find out what version I installed. All I could see is that it was 2015 with no version listed. I would like to know how to handle this before I reinstall the antivirus. I don’t want to have to uninstall and reinstall the Avast Antivirus every time I have to install a device or driver to keep Avast from deleting or blocking the installation. I have used Avast for years and this is the first time I have encountered anything like this. Please help.

Right click the icon in the tray, you can deactivate it there.

Those options do not appear when I right click.

Not so strange since you are posting in a topic from 2014

This rather depends on what Program and version of Avast you are running ?
They appear on mine as my screenshot attests.
Right click the Avast Tray Icon and select Avast Shied Control.

As has been said its isn’t wise to breath life into a very old topic.

Should you need further assistance, please create your own ‘new topic’ and we will try to help further.

As Pondus’s profile info states he isn’t using avast
