While I was surfing a web page avast! has given a warning about a virus that now is in the chest. Can this file be tested without being restored ?
Many thanks .

Ofcourse that can be done. Submit the file to Jotti

Ok ,I’ve got the path to the chest and the number of the file.
The iotti test is OK then it was a false positive…
Below there are malaware statictis …I think they are not refered to my file ,isn’t it ?
Many thanks.

If I try to restore the file I get the warning for Virus found !
This means that the file I submit to Iotti from the chest is in some way different from the real file ?! ??

No, if I understood you, the file is an avast false positive.
avast will consider it as a virus, even the file is clean (by the jotti test)…

I think the files in the chest are always encrypted then the virus has not been detected by iotti . To be analyzed they have to be restored ! Since this could be dangerous I’ve e-mailed it to Alwil. I hope that it can be analyzed . If it was a Virus , Avast had done a great job ! This malware was in the java cache that now I’ve cleared, it was a *.class file. and to have detected it has been a very very good job…if it is relly a malware…
Correct ?
Many thanks.

Sorry, sgrbrlnd, you’re correct. I did not realize you have to take the file out from the Chest. Thanks for submitting the file and helping to improve avast.
