Just turning off the auto monthly smart scan shouldn’t require the user to create a new scan, it should still be there and just needs activating.
You should be able to just go into the Smart Scan settings and enable it to run as a scheduled scan again (if it is still present, see attached image).
AvastUI > Menu > Protection > Virus Scans > Custom Scans, check if the smart scan is there and enter the settings 3 … dots.
If I recall correctly, try running a manual scan when that completes I believe there is a checkbox at the bottom of the results. This is pre-checked (certainly in my case as I have it disabled), leaving it like that should allow it to run automatically according to your settings, you may need to change those settings.
But surely if you go into the smart scan settings and change the interval it runs to monthly it allows you to set a day (1st, etc) to run it. I would have thought having done that it should run automatically. The problem being you would have to wait for that day to come, you could set it for tomorrows date and wait.
Well there is on mine, and my versions build and UI version are in my signature.
Is the Smart Scan listed in the Custom Scan section or is this for your own creation of the smart scan as you suggested in Reply #2 ?
Even if not, there is an even greater case for the settings when editing the Smart Scan settings and changing the frequency options from Never to any other. This UI is still a very unintuitive with may settings buried under several levels, it really needs sorted. Not too long ago the Avast UI used to be very intuitive and easy to find things, not so with this interface.
It says a lot for the UI (NOT) when long term users have difficulty finding stuf that should be no more than a couple of levels (clicks) away. This UI is pretty damn poor.
Smart Scan has emerged in Custom Scans and the time and frequency of Smart Scans can be controlled (also Full Virus Scan, Targeted Scan and Quick Scan) among other settings.
How long this will last is anybody’s guess. The rapid changes of Avast UI suggest that could even be as long as half an hour.
