How to uninstall Avast

I need to uninstall Avast free but am having problems.

Avast does NOT show on windows Programs and Features. Therefore I can not uninstall it from there. I have Revo Uninstaller, but it also does not show up there.

I downloaded aswClear and tried to run it in Safe Mode. Got the error message below.

What next?

Thanks

Uninstall Utility https://www.avast.com/en-eu/uninstall-utility

Pondus - Please read my first post. I followed the directions and received noted error.

What my next step?

What OS/SP ?
Do you have (or had) any other security (related) software installed ?

Eddy - Running Win 7 HP SP1 with lastest updates. Have installed but not running SuperAntiSpyware,Malwarebytes Anti-Malware. I had MSE but uninstalled it before installing Avast.

Follow the “Let me fix it myself” steps:
https://support.microsoft.com/en-us/kb/2435760

Run the mbam removal tool:
http://downloads.malwarebytes.org/file/mbam_clean

Reboot and try to run aswclear again.

Eddy - Thanks for your suggestions. Since I had already uninstalled MSE it was not able to be removed. I rans the mbam removal tool, rebooted to safe mode and tried aswclear. Got the same error as below.

What do I try next?

If you try to install Avast, what error message do you receive ???

I still get the same error as noted above.

Reported to moderators. Let’s see if Avast responds.

bob3160 - Thanks for the reply. It’s the best I’ve had so far. Hope they can help.

Thanks again

There is ofcourse always the manual removal option.

What is the manual removal option?

I have tried to disable Avast self-denfense module but it will not be disabled (As far as I can find).

What do I need to do?

Please send as your support package - you just need to run http://utils.support.tools.avast.com/tools/support/utils/avastsupport.exe - it would allow us to check why this happen.

Then would you mind to reinstall it with new build? Download your product version from https://forum.avast.com/index.php?topic=173591.0
This should fix the installation as it seems somehow corrupted (hopefully). And then you should be able to uninstall it in regular way from Control Panel.

It seems to me the OP can't uninstall in a normal (automatic) way and also can't install.

That is why I mentioned the option “manually removal”.

I’m sure lucas will has specific instructions for crgibson once he’s analyzed the support package.
