I’m a dope…for some reason I cannot figure out how to stop the automatic updates. Does anyone know how?

Welcome to the forum.
There arent any dopes on here. We’re all Smart cause we use avast!
Right click on the a in the system tray and select Start avast! Antivirus
select Menue (Top Left) then,
select Update (Basic) and
select Manual
Hope that helps.
