Howdy Guys (URL Redirect issue)

Hi Guys,

I have installed a clean copy of FF. I noticed that when redirecting me thru sites that use https the browser is actually sending me to http.com (a ad/domain parking website). I thought this might of been a DNS hijack so i started digging into all my DNS servers and couldn’t find DNS system that is querying this. Before hand i had attempted to visit the site 4 times with the site loading with “redirecting” only resulting in an alert informing me that the site had been redirected to http.com. Then i noticed it might be browser related. Any help to get this sorted would be awesome.

Many Thanks
Oliver

Hi Oliver, lets see what a quick scan reveals, could you confirm that this is Firefox only

Download OTL to your Desktop
Secondary link

[*]Double click on the icon to run it. Make sure all other windows are closed and to let it run uninterrupted.

[*]Select All Users
[]Select LOP and Purity
[
]Under the Custom Scan box paste this in

netsvcs
BASESERVICES
%SYSTEMDRIVE%*.exe
c:\program files (x86)\Google\Desktop
c:\program files\Google\Desktop
dir “%systemdrive%*” /S /A:L /C
/md5start
rpcss.dll
/md5stop
CREATERESTOREPOINT

[*]Click the Run Scan button. Do not change any settings unless otherwise told to do so. The scan wont take long.
[*]When the scan completes, it will open two notepad windows. OTL.Txt and Extras.Txt. These are saved in the same location as OTL.
[*]Attach both logs

Hey Essexboy!,

It seems to have been related to a browser (firefox) install bug. Ill keep my eyes posted and if the issue comes back ill run OTL.

Thanks
Oliver

No problem
