hpmon

Everytime I start up AVAST keeps finding this . HPMON

i move it into chest and delete but its still there. I try to remove it manually and I get an error saying the file may be write protected. whats goin on? the computer is running fine at this point but I had major problems and ,ultiple viruses a few weeks ago. This seems like the last one. How do I get rid of this?

Thanks,

You don’t give many details, however, after googling hpmon, I found hpmon.exe.Are you getting pop ups from a rogue program called Virus trigger ?
Look at the links

Hpmon.exe http://www.bleepingcomputer.com/startups/hpmon.exe-24310.html

Removal http://www.bleepingcomputer.com/malware-removal/remove-virustrigger
Which is basically downloading MBAM,updating, scanning, and removing

Otherwise you must provide more details, virus name, infected files, and locations

After you follow Micky’s directions, I suggest:

  1. Clean your temporary files.
  2. Schedule a boot time scanning with avast with archive scanning turned on. If avast does not detect it, you can try DrWeb CureIT! instead.
  3. Use SUPERantispyware, MBAM or Spyware Terminator to scan for spywares and trojans. If any infection is detected, better and safer is send the file to Quarantine than to simple delete them.
  4. Test your machine with anti-rootkit applications. I suggest avast! antirootkit or Trend Micro RootkitBuster.
  5. Make a HijackThis log to post here or this analysis site. Or even submit the RunScanner log to to on-line analysis.
  6. Disable System Restore and then reenable it again.
  7. Immunize your system with SpywareBlaster.
  8. Check if you have insecure applications with Secunia Software Inspector.
