Ok guys,

Here is an interesting one for you…

I have 40 pc on my network. I use a proxy server (wingate 6) which allows 14 of the 40 pc’s to have intetnet access. The dillema comes when looking at the Wingate logs. It seems that every pc that has Avast installed on it is looking to the internet for updates.

In the ADNM, it looks as though most of the pc’s are staying current, whether they have internet access or not. So it seems that the ADNM is mirroring ok.

Is there a way to stop all pc’s from looking to the web to update, and only look at the ADNM server? These requests are coming to the server and being denied by the proxy server as they should, but it is taking a lot of processing time to do this when it gets so many hits = ssllooww server… :slight_smile:

You may need to check the updater logs on one of the workstations (\setup\setup.log) to find out why it went out (didn’t use the mirror), but to disable going out (which is what you want, if I understood you correctly), please untick the apropriate box in the Computer Group’s properties as shown on the following screenshot.

Thank you for the help. Disabled the pc’s from looking to the web for updates, but this pc still will not update from the ADNM. It is set up the same as the others, have also tried an unstall/install of avast net client. Here is the last excerpt from the setup log. The Adnm’s IP is 192.168.0.100.

HTTP error 403? Interesting. That error code means “Forbidden”, if I’m not mistaken…

What happens what you try to open the URL http://192.168.0.100:5033//servers.def in a web browser on that machine?

It gets to the same page as on another pc.

Should the ADNM server be in there somewhere?
