I’m a Avast 4.7 french user and I have a problem with AshWebSv.exe !
When I use my “neuf giga” account, when I want to upload a file on my private space using the java web based application, the AshWebSv service go wild and grow up until some 400 000 Ko of memory utilisation and still grow up until I stop the uploading… When the uplaod is finished, AshWebSv stay at his biggest level. ???
I’ve tried to re-install Avast and Java RE 6 but nothing better…
I’m using mozilla firefox and Internet Explorer fully updated and it does the same…
WebShield (ashwebsv.exe) does not scan upload traffic (outbound), only inbound.
Maybe some Java component is downloading something… at the same time… difficult to say.
It will create a memory dump of running webshield process (in the file ashwebsv.dmp). Please upload the file to the ftp server (ftp://ftp.avast.com/incoming) or send him a mail about it.
Has the dump been taken when the memory usage of the process was so high (~400MB)?
The thing is, the dump should be of the same size as the memory allocated by the process (that is, also ~400MB) - but you said your dump was only like 100MB…
Yes, I’ve just upload some photos (about 50 Mo) and the process didn’t get so big
If you prefer, I could dump a 400 Mo if I upload a big amount of files.
I will do that next week.
I think you could test the problem with your test machine 'cause the java application just allow you to upload files on the net !
The difficulty is finding a web page wich allow you to do this… And I don’t even know any one unless my neuf giga on neuf telecom !
