I have just gotten a new great web hotel (humyo.com)
but now everytime i upload files Avast Antivirus keeps
saying there is a virus in the file uploading client that
i got from humyo.com ? I keep hitting the “do nothing”
button but the virus alert keeps coming back in the on access scanner…
Is this true or just a false negative ?
I am acutally paying for them to give me viruses ?
I am using humyos client which works like a external usb harddisk drive
and also has a (z drive) where i can drag and drop the files i want to
be uploaded to.
So How do i get avast not to scan in the Z drive ?
Can i enter Z
in the exclude field or is it only for one file and not a whole drive?
Before even considering exclusion you should get confirmation it is an FP or not. As and when exclusion is required you shouldn’t exclude the complete drive as that would be leaving a huge hole in your security.
You could also check the offending/suspect file at: VirusTotal - Multi engine on-line virus scanner and report the findings here the URL in the Address bar of the VT results page. You can’t do this with the file securely in the chest, you need to extract it to a temporary (not original) location first, see below.
Create a folder called Suspect in the C:\ drive, e.g. C:\Suspect. Now exclude that folder in the Standard Shield, Customize, Advanced, Add, type (or copy and paste) C:\Suspect* That will stop the standard shield scanning any file you put in that folder. You should now be able to export any file in the chest to this folder and upload it to VirusTotal without avast alerting.
