So on Monday i received an email from a client the subject was not suspicious at all. Opened it and it was clearly some kind of scam/generic massage. Deleted it. Subsequent avast scan found hupigon trojan and recommended boot time scan. Did that. Honestly didn’t see the result of boot time scan that first time.
Rescanned after windows started. Hupigon found again, paid more attention this time it is located at c:/programdata/AVAST Software/AVAST/ng/NgBase/Snapshots/snapshot_{65a2fb4c-06b6-11e1-8e4f-806e6f6e6963}.
There’s nothing in quarantine filled recently. I looked for common changes hupigon in regedit but didn’t see any.
Am I infected or is snapshot some kind of virus chest?
Avast NG is a hardware based virtualization solution to provide more isolated test space. It is capable of running each Windows process in standalone safe virtualized environment (VM) and fully integrated to your desktop. Each process is executed in its own instance of VM, which means totally isolated from your other applications. This feature now powers Avast DeepScreen to improve better scanning of unknown programs (better detections).
