Hyperlinks in Word and Excel no longer open in Avast Secure Browser

Office Professional Plus 2016 16.0.13001.20384 (NOT Microsoft/Office 365) and Windows 10 2004 build 19041.388
Hyperlinks no longer work in Word or Excel.
Changing the default browser to anything but Avast Secure Browser allows the hyperlinks to run.
I have Avast Secure Browser set as default Browser and the default app for http and https. This has been my setting for over 3 years with no issue, ie, I don’t wish to make Edge or Chrome my default browser per se or the default for http or https hyperlinks.
