I am totally disappointed!

Hi Avast Team,

I am really disappointed how Avast changed in the last 12 years! I am using (actually I WAS using) Avast since 2003 and I really loved it! When Avast 4 came out I was really happy about the changes. More security, really good features and still a good computer speed, thanks to really good managed ressources.

But after the version 4.8 there was the version 5. Since then Avast just got worse and worse. Massive popups about the Pro, Premium and I don’t even remember what kind of crap. And every version since then just got more of this commercial crap.

Today I finally had enough of that. Avast died for me after making commercials for Google Chrome. Yeah, you guys did that in the past more than once. And yeah, we know that you get financal support by google, but still…their browser sucks!
Many people love the design of the browser, that is why they use it. I definitly will NEVER use that trash. There are people, who killed all the google spyware from the browser and released it under another name. I think it was called IRON. Same design, same code, but without any google crap. And look how small it was. Up to 90% smaller than the official google release. This browser is not even safe. We saw it thanks to the malware, that deleted the whole browser and replaced it with a malware, that looked exactly the same as the browser. Still you guys support that crap! I am really disappointed.

I installed Avast back then because it was a small, nice and secure anti-virus application, that had from time to time a little commercial for the professional version. Nowadays you get at least 3 popups a day (and every restart), that tells you crappy informations about how unsecure your computer is WITHOUT all the special applications, that Avast offers.

Guys, for REAL? You destroy your own image thanks to this annoucements! And check your board! It is filled with problems about the software, that you offer. Instead of fixing the stuff, you guys add more crappy commercials into your software.

I got enough of that! I supported you guys for over 12 years and recommended the software to anyone I knew (and I really knew many people thanks to my world wide trips and supporting online services. Most of them even bought the Professional version.). But I got enough of that behaviour. Avast died for me!
The stuff, that made your company really big and great is just gone! You had a perfect anti-virus client, that was small, fast and secure. Now you got that, what you never wanted to have back then. A overfilled, spamming client with a integrated anti-virus application, that is braking the pc performance and spamming the owners with messages, that make them insecure. I am really disappointed in you, people.

This is my opinion after using Avast over 12 years! If a mod wants to delete this post, you are welcome. But still have the courage to send this to the team, so they at least read this once and know what they do wrong! I haven’t posted the new AV’s name, because it is really uncool to make commercial for the competition. But there is an AV, that has everything I loved about Avast 4.8! It is fast, secure and one of the best this year. And it is free! It’s a shame, that avast went that way it did!

Hello, I see that you have some large on the heart, makes with the behavior of Avast since his upgrades! Me, I use it free. I do not have a problem with Google (the browser) which is proposed to us. I do not use it. (I have of Google horror and all what it produces!) I thus have, disabled in the parameters (of Avast), the installation of all that is in keeping with him. This is because I use the free version that I arrive there, and am never annoyed, (even at the time of the updates of the program?) I wish that you obtain answers, which will allow you to use and choose as you want it. Good luck.

“PS” I use a translator because my language is French.

Massive popups about the Pro, Premium and I don't even remember what kind of crap. And every version since then just got more of this commercial crap.
You get what you pay for as they say. Keep in mind that avast is a commercial company and needs to make money for new developments. They have a lot of mouths to feed. You can disable the pop-ups in the paid versions.

Not true. Iron (and others) may look like Chrome but are not spin-offs of Chrome. The just use the same engine (Chromium)
This browser is not even safe.
Nothing is ever 100% safe.
I installed Avast back then because it was a small, nice and secure anti-virus application
No av (or rather no anti-malware) application can stay small. More (new) threads appear all the time and require more/better/other protection to be added/used.
And check your board! It is filled with problems about the software, that you offer.
You make the same mistake as almost everyone is doing. People who don't have a problem are (almost) never posting. If they all did, it would become very hard to find a post with a complain between all the positive posts. Try to find one specific sand grain in the dessert.
Instead of fixing the stuff, you guys add more crappy commercials into your software.
You are wrong. Bugs are and will be fixed. Have a look at the release history/changes. In the latest version (2016) there is even a bug fix for https scanning on Windows XP systems, although XP is a "old" OS.

As for the advertisement pop-ups, the amount is already reduced.
You can use a paid version and disable them.
You can set avast to run silent/gaming mode.
As has been told by avast, they are already looking into other/new ways to promote their products.

There are MANY here on this forum who have used Avast since version 4 (2000-2002) and have learned to adapt and learn as the versions passed by and still use Avast which by the way has come a LONG WAY since version 4 but then so has the BAD Stuff.
Some folks didn’t follow the development.

Avast is by far the most configurable Security Software I’ve seen and can be installed with all the bells and whistles or simply the Main Shields

Change, add, or remove individual program components

When you install avast, why aren’t you using the “Custom” installation which gives you the option to only install the parts of Avast that you want ???

If that’s not what you did, then you can still get rid of what you don’t want
by going to Programs and Features, Select Avast and then Select change,
Uncheck all the items or features you don’t want, when this finishes, reboot and
Avast will again be the way you want it.

The Avast link posted just above that provides all the directions and information. ???
