In order to get incoming mail to work I have to have SSL CONNECTION enabled using MS Office Outlook 2010 in combination with my ISP provider using Google email servers on a Windows 7 machine. In the past I had the same problem with Outlook Express (OE)on WIN98SE but fortunately for some reason I HAVE been able to get Avast to work using OE on an XP machine after upgrading from WIN98SE. I have no idea why OE on XP has no problem without SSL for incoming mail for the same email provider but MS Office Outlook on Windows 7 ends up like WIN98SE thus once again still needs to have SSL connection enabled to work for incoming mail.
As it is now, outgoing DOES GET SCANNED by Avast, it’s just INCOMING that is the problem.
This new computer uses Windows 7 so OE is unavailable. Therefore I’m using MS Office Outlook 2010 for some of my POP mail.
Problem is that unfortunately Avast WILL NOT scan incoming email with SSL (encrypted connection) selected so I am left with the choice of NO INCOMING MAIL or leaving myself VULNERABLE.
Is there any other way I can get virus protection for INCOMING MAIL that I can add using MS Office Outlook 2010 on a Windows 7 machine?
