i can NOT get win 7 to see avast on this one system

i just simply dont get it. i have actually formatted this system more than 5 times trying to fix this and reinstalled maybe a dozen or so. so i am hoping avast doesnt block my lic key this is crazy. i have a laptop with ONLY WIN7 and NOTHING else FRESH install. so i install win7 the needed drivers and avast there is nothing more on this system and no matter what i do win7 is reporting i need to find a av program. so i uninstall it with the uninstaller and remove leftovers and reinstall now it says i need to update avast even though i literally just saw the pop up from avast saying it updated. a reboot does not help.

this is repeatable on this system for whatever reason i have no idea. this is the only one giving me this much trouble. i have had the issue of avast not starting or win saying there was some problem but usually after either a restart or worst case a reinstall avast / win fixed itself. this system refuses to work right with avast. as i said currently there is NO OTHER programs installed. and there has NEVER been a different av on here either. im guessing it may have to come down to hardware of some sorts but how to figure out what piece of hardware it is directly im not sure.

any ideas… i REALLY DONT want my key flagged but i have had to use / reinstall it prob 12-maybe 20 times on here. and this is driving me nuts.

avast says it is on and updated and everything is green lit the firewall and av are in fact working as i have tested them both against threats and to block programs etc…just for some reason win7 is not talking right with avast or visa versa…

i guess i may have to turn off notifications for the av and firewall but i hate to do that…is there a way to let someone know that i have had to repeatedly use this key or can they tell if its the same system/ip or mac etc??

Install all security/system updates of W7 prior to installing avast…!!
asyn

sorry i forgot to mention i did do that. i install win 7 and then whatever updates there are reboot and install avast

OK, which avast.? pro? ais? from where did you get the installer?
asyn

ais 5 and downloaded directly from avast i use the mutli lang version so i can get it from avast web site directly

os is win7 ultimate x64, office pro plus 2010 (i am a technet user)…NO OTHER SOFTWARE OR AV’S INSTALLED this is a fresh install of win7 and office 2010 and win7 updates NOTHING more

system specs of this particular system:

clevo laptop barebones (i am a reseller)
atheros 5008x card
4gb ram
t9800 cpu
hitachi 500gb 7200rpm hdd
bluetooth module added
optiarc dvd dl drive
intel 4500 gpu

etc

I guess you did install with admin rights…???
If you think of hardware issue, do you have a fingerprint-reader?
asyn

no fingerprint reader, uac is turned off so i dont need to use admin rights, but yes i did also try that as well no difference

So, if you did install with admin rights on a clean, updated W7 system, I’m out of ideas.
Sorry, the devs would have to answer this one. :frowning:
Good luck…!!
asyn

oh i figured they would have to chime i here. i just cant see what would be causing it unless as i said its a driver / hardware issue

Please, post the last 400-450 lines of avast log: C:\Program Files\Alwil Software\Avast5\Setup\setup.log
(or the shorter C:\Users\All Users\Alwil Software\Avast5\log\Setup.log).
Or upload the setup.log file.

where to upload i dont want to post it public…

Why not?
If you want, change the user name of the computer by zfactor…

i was not sure what was in there… i dont want personal info online. if you can tell me nothing other than my comp user name is there ill upload it…ill read through it also to see

Just open it with any Texteditor and remove the info, you wouldn’t want to be public.
It shouldn’t be much, if any…!
asyn

zfactor, there isn’t personal information in that file…

After reading the symptoms the first thing that comes to my mind is a repository problem ??? ???

Why? The Security Center (or Actions Center) could be related to the repository.
But seems that avast is not being correctly installed… that is another problem, isn’t it?

Yes, it seems that avast is not being correctly installed.

A damaged repository came in to my mind after reading zfactor post : avast says it is on and updated and everything is green lit the firewall and av are in fact working as i have tested them both against threats and to block programs etc…just for some reason win7 is not talking right with avast or visa versa…

But then again, the problem was still there after a new fresh install

Sorry, you’re right. If this is a problem, it could be in the repository (also).

im away tonight but ill post it tomm when i get in.
