I can not manually install the database file 400.vps

Dear Friends
Hi everyone,

Please, I need help!

I’m a brazilian guy (Students), please excuse my english, I am a rookie in linux (newbie), I Installed in a Pendrive the spectacular “Puppy Dingo Linux 4.1” with the installer UNetBootin and the same is working perfectly. But I’m having doubts about the antivirus AVAST, but only managed to install after searching in forums, the file (avast4workstation-1.0.8.pet), but I could not install the download site’s http://files.avast.com/files/linux/avast4workstation-1.0.8.tar.gz, because I do not know the procedure of Installation, and what are the steps (step by step). I had also succeeded in installing the key (a valid license key).

??? The Most importantly, I can not manually install the file 400.vps (I have downloaded the file in other machine with Windows XP and the linux without Internet until now), because I do not know what is the path folder (*) for latest virus database (400.vps) updates - I do not know where install this file. Please ask me the largest possible number of information and step by step.
grateful
thanks you a lot  ;D

Hallo,
the *tar.gz package is a targzipped directory with install script. Just untargzip it, and execute the mkinstall.sh.
The location of 400.vps depends - engine has no hardcoded path, it’s given by the configuration file (datadir item), or set by the application itself (case of avast4workstation).

One initial 400.vps is included in the package directly, and the fresh one will be downloaded by the application itself. There’s normally no need for any additional 400.vps shamanism.

regards,
pc
