I used it before and I tried to update, but it didn’t let me do it.
So I decided to uninstall it.
I already used Avast Uninstall in the safe mode
And re-boot the computer again.
Now I try to install it again but I can’t
There is a message “There was an error while completing the setup process”
What should I do?
Ps. I used to have Norton 306, and I uninstall it in last few months by using the regular program to uninstall it. Is there anything doing with that? ???
Download the latest version of avast http://www.avast.com/eng/download-avast-home.html and save it to your HDD, somewhere you can find it again. Use that when you reinstall. Ensure that you scroll down and select the avast direct download link for the English version and not Cnet as that is for an on-line installation (not what you want to do). - Direct download for avast Home, English version, http://files.avast.com/iavs4pro/setupeng.exe.
Download the avast! Uninstall Utility, find it here and save it to your HDD.
Now uninstall (using add remove programs, if you can’t do that start from the next step), reboot.- 2. run the avast! Uninstall Utility, reboot. If step 1 failed it may be necessary to run this from safe mode, once complete reboot into normal mode.- 3. install the latest version, reboot.
This allows for off-line installation as there have been some experience problems with the on-line install. Not to mention I think Norton may have a big hand in this isue as it can be a pig to remove and cause installation problems for your new AV.
Thanks for your help. As you suggest, I download the newest version from Avast website. And I already installed. It’s done, but I have another problem. After I install and restart my computer, my internet explorer cannot display any webpage. Anybody has an idea what the problem is? ???
How do I know which firewall I am using? (I am sorry not that good in computer.) all I know it is said… Windows Firewall with Advanced Security. I don’t know what it’s.
And how can I check whether allow WebSv.exe internet access or not?
You’re welcome, told you Norton can be a pig to remove ;D
If you check the Windows Security Center it will tell you, from what you said, “Windows Firewall with Advanced Security” I suspect the Windows Vista Firewall (are you using Vista) ?
I don’t use Vista so I could be wrong, I don’t really know what the “Advanced Security” bit is about perhaps meaning outbound protection is enabled, but not sure.
