Download the full setup (choose the language) and not the online CNET one.

I have avast pro on two computers for almost a year and never any problems. I recommend it to others. On a third laptop, I have been trying to download avast home free today, I have tried three times, both from avast.com and cnet.com and it downloads but when try to install, it immediately stops and doesnt install. When you say “Download the full setup (choose the language) and not the online CNET one.”, what are you refering too? And could you post a link. Thanks

get the avast home full setup file here : http://www.avast.com/eng/download-avast-home.html (~37 MB)

OR

get the avast pro full setup file here : http://www.avast.com/eng/download-avast-professional.html (~ 37 MB)

do not download the online installer.

select the right language.

edit : I think you need the english version, so download the right one(right click > save as) :

As a side note, the avast_home_setup file that is downloaded (and i save to desktop to run) is only listed as 300KB in size. Is that all that should download?

no. that is the online installer. do not install from that.

get the 37 MB installer.(i have given the links)

I also wound up getting the full install download from the !avast site because the 300kb file started downloading (it said) and was taking forever. It was like downloading a movie on dial-up. I finally cancelled it and got the 37mb file from the main site and that went fast and worked perfectly.
