I cannot update the virus DB in my Avast free Antivirus program:
The program keep telling that it wasn’t able to update itself. And when I try to update manually, it fails too! Can someone help me with this issue?

First thing to do is to try a Repair of Avast. Close all Windows, than go to your Computer Control Panel to Add/Remove Programs. Find Avast and click Remove. It won’t remove the program, but it will open up a set of options. One of those will be REPAIR. Click that and follow the prompts. Report back.

Also you may want to change your Profile Settings so that your Signature includes the Version of Windows you have, the version of Avast you have, and any other security software on your computer. This helps with troubleshooting issues.

I am having same problem, updates appear to be working on there own, but if I click update in the sidebar gadget or any manual update it just says initializing please wait and freezes on step 1 of 2.

i cant update my free avast anti-virus…
there is one error like "C:/Program files\AVAST Software\Avast\setup".Setup cannot continue…
