I can't download or open an internet file and get the following message:

“contained a virus and was deleted.”
I did a Google search and others have identified it as Malware.
Avast isn’t correcting the problem.
What should I do?

Welcome to the forum.
What contained a virus ??? What was the name of the file and where was it located ??? (full path name)

Sorry I wasn’t more specific. ANY and EVERY file I try to download or save gets that messsage and prevents me from downloading or saving it.
For instance, I couldn’t download IE9, AVG, Excel files from my Quickbooks website, etc.
